In the spirit of the holiday, I had to show this to you. Before you get offended and think it's blasphemy, let me tell you, a pastor created these as illustrations as to what Jesus is NOT. I think it's pretty funny, if you look at it that way.

A large lobby with elevators! This is the administration floor.
A very large classroom! (Can you imagine? They're all the same size! We'll be so spoiled.)
Teacher offices!
This is my favorite part. Skylights! You can see there are three upstairs floors. They are all the same and will be used for elementary and high school. The kindergarten will be below the main floor. The whole thing is on a hill, though, so even the basement has windows.
There are a few of these stepped auditorium-like rooms. We don't even know what to do with them all.

These very large rooms will be used for lunch rooms, libraries, and such.
The gym! Yes!!!! A gym!
This is actually the roof of the gym. It will be used as a play area. We're going to put up a high fence all the way around it and put basketball hoops and soccer goals and the like. It's a lot bigger than it looks. It's also on the same level as the basement/kindergarten, so you can get an idea of how it's all laid out. Underneath the gym is a pretty large room we're going to use as a student center with ping-pong and foosball, and we're going to make it like a lounge to use for bible studies, etc.

So, if you're not impressed yet, let me give you an idea of what we're coming from here. This is our high school. We've been in this building for at least 15 years. (It's an old apartment building.)

And very large stair well.
We have two other buildings much like this one for the jr. high and elementary. The kindergarten is on the bottom level of another apartment building next door.
The really, really amazing part of all this is, once we get moved, the rent will actually be less because of the part of town we live in. It will be a better neighborhood, too.
How to pray: The checkpoint is now situated right in front of our new school. Pray that it will be moved. There is no reason why they can't move it. It's not permanent, and the (infamous) wall is now complete, so they should be moving the checkpoint back to it. This will make life so much better for us and our students.
Also, we need about 100,000 dollars to get the school ready to open the doors. God's got us this far. I'm sure he has a plan for the next step.
Pray for me, personally: I will also need to be raising my support this summer. I've never done this before, so I need a lot of help. Pray that God guides me to the right people/right places.

Yesterday was Palm Sunday, and I walked the path that Jesus took.
We started in Bethany, near the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, behind the Mount of Olives. From there we walked a pretty long way down to the old city.
There were people from every area of the earth, singing in so many tongues I lost count. There were small children trying to sell a tiny little stick with a few leaves on it for a sheckel.
One thing I couldn't figure out was why the catholics sounded so sad. Their group was at the end, having the patriarch of Jerusalem with them and all. They sang the same song over and over again. I say singing, but it was really more like chanting.
Wasn't this supposed to be a happy day? I mean, I'm sure Jesus wasn't feeling too good, knowing what was going to happen in less than a week, but everyone else was pretty jubilant. They thought that Jesus was going to be the one to take them out from under Roman rule.
It's a little ironic that now it's mostly arabs and internationals who march, and not the jews.
Believe me, there was no rush. I think I could have walked it three times in the time it took the patriarch. We did make it eventually, and our group went in singing as we entered the Lion's gate (the gate that Jesus took is now closed until he arrives again, and the lion's gate is the next one over.)
We stopped, the patriarch did some sort of blessing, and then the real party began. (I was hoping that wasn't it. Come on.) The scouts from different churches, orthodox, and catholic formed their lines and moved out, marching around the city with their drums and their bagpipes. That is how a King should be welcomed into the city. (Not with chanting, please.) And they were children....how special is that?
I was especially proud because a few of the scouts are students of mine. :)

New School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally got to see it yesterday. I can hardly believe it's real.
You can see that it is huge. It was built to be a college, but has been left empty for 12 years and never been used.
....Well, after several tries to upload more photos, it just isn't working out for us today. So, I'll leave you with this teaser until Google gets their act together.
